Words to Watch Out For

[Roxane Gay / February 25th, 2010 / Contributor Notes ]

I’m really excited about Puerto Del Sol 45. It looks to be quite an issue and will feature work from Matt Bell, Elisa Gabbert, Shya Scanlon, Kyle Minor, James Grinwis, Mike Meginnis, and many more.

Randall Brown’s short story, His Ghost Writer, appears in Straylight Magazine.

Lauren Becker’s poignant Independent Living is now live at Pedestal Magazine.

David Peak’s novel The Rocket’s Red Glare is available here.

Arlene Ang has a short short story at Staccato Fiction.

There’s a new issue of DOGZPLOT Flash Fiction and it is as excellent as it ever was with work from Eric Bennett, J. Bradley, and more.

Kirsty Logan has a story aptly entitled Storytelling in the new Seven Letter Words, a magazine new to me but quite lovely, as well as a story in the anthology 100 Stories for Haiti, which will be released on March 4. The proceeds from sales of the collection will go to the Red Cross.

3:AM Magazine is featuring two flash fictions from Scott Garson this week.

R.A. Allen’s “The Emerald Coast,” which appeared in The Literary Review’s Manifest Destiny issue, will be published in The Best American Mystery Stories 2010, due out in the fall from Houghton Mifflin.

Congratulations are also in order for Rachel Swirsky whose novelette “A Memory of Wind” was nominated for the Nebula award.

Obelisk from Ravi Mangla is up at Necessary Fiction.

The Suspenders are the matter at hand at Annalemma with writing from Aaron Burch who celebrates a birthday this week and who has a chapbook you would love and should buy!

Speaking of Annalemma, they’ve announced their lineup for Issue 6 and it includes Matt Bell, JA Tyler, Ravi Mangla, Jimmy Chen, Brandi Wells and others.
